Key Features

Works comprised the conversion of an existing music block into a performance auditorium and practice room located centrally within a busy secondary school.

Following asbestos removal extensive structural alterations were carried out to the building to provide the large clear spans for the new auditorium.

New, upgraded services were routed across the secondary school building within existing corridor ceiling voids, retaining and enhancing fire compartmentation as required as works progressed.

Due to the central location of the works area within the school building, a significant number of quiet periods were programmed so the students were not disturbed during critical examination
periods.

Several further projects have since been awarded to Now Construction following the satisfactory delivery of this scheme:

“We employed Now Construction to convert our existing music block into a performance area with practice rooms. The works consisted of structural alterations, roof extension, reconfiguration of internal spaces, M&E including new ventilation plant, decorations, floor finishes and specialist furniture.

The project was located within the heart of the school which presented significant logistical challenges for the NCL team; however, these were overcome with no impact to the school. I found Chris Evans and the Now Construction team and their supply chain easy to work with, delivering the project on time to a high standard. I have since awarded them further projects
across our Academy Trust”
